Becoming a Notary in Alameda County

Alameda County has no standing CPS HR exam site on the current calendar. That’s a scheduling detail, not an obstacle: the closest regular sessions are in Daly City and San Jose, both about monthly, and most East Bay students reach one in well under an hour whether they take BART, the bridge, or I-880. The list below surfaces the nearest upcoming sessions automatically.

The parts you control are entirely online: the 6-hour course and the Proof of Completion certificate that prints when you finish. Finish the course first, then pick the Daly City or San Jose session that fits your calendar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Testing locations, timing, and what to expect.

There’s no standing Alameda location on the current CPS calendar. The closest regular sessions are in Daly City (San Mateo County) and San Jose (Santa Clara County). Either location works: your commission follows where you live, not where you test.

You need to be a California legal resident and 18 or older. The state requires a background check through Live Scan, but US citizenship is not a requirement.

Most students finish the 6 hours in a day or two. Progress saves automatically, so you can stop and resume on any device within your 60-day access window.

You can retake it after the current calendar month, and we’ll help you prepare. Your practice questions and study materials stay available, and our exam strategy module is built specifically for the retake.
